So I found this poem I wrote a month ago. I think?. I thought it was stupid at the time but now I kinda like it. It was in 5-7-7-5, whatever that is, so I made is 5-7-5. haiku style.
It's almost sweet but then a little bit crude. Kinda funny. A little upsetting. And empowering to me:)
I'm Not Yours To Take
I'm not yours to take
I'm a heart inside a chest
Do not rip me out
I'm not yours to shake
I'm a flame needing a shade
Do not blow me out
I'm not yours to break
I'm a rose inside a dome
Do not pluck me out
I'm not yours to take
I'm the soul of a woman
That has shut you out.
In other news, I've decided to start auditioning for musicals, even though I really can't sing OR dance (I especially can't dance), because I don't want to limit my options anymore. I'm going to be a Yes Women... like in Jim Carey's Yes Man. Did you see that? Soo good. I love him and Zooey is so adorable. Anyway I may audition for Rocky Horror in June. lol. What do you think? I've always wanted to be in it, not because I love the movie, which I do, but because the kids in The Perks of Being a Wallflower (A really good book about an painfully awkward teenage boy) do that thing every week where they put on costumes and perform rocky horror picture show while the movie is playing in the background and it made them popular for a day even though they weren't. Rocky Horror just seems like the perfect thing for misfits like me. Although, I'm somewhat ashamed to admit that I'm less of a misfit than I use to be. I'm becoming more and more socially accepted as I get older. I don't know if that's good or bad. Oh well, I bet my friends still think I'm a weird as ever, right guys?

First of all, I loved yes man. I love Jim Carrey. Second of all, you can too sing, and I'm sure you dance better than me. And third of all, I stole your poem and made it into a sappy Lisa song.
ReplyDeleteI forgot the link to it...

Really?!! OMG You are my favorite person ever. That is sooo cool. I'm going to watch it RIGHT NOW!:)
ReplyDeleteI feel honored to be your lyricist.
P.S. Thanks for being one of the few people who actually comments on stuff.
OH MY GOD. I LOVED THAT! I actually wanted it to be kinda sweet because you know me, I'm sweet even when I'm feeling scorned. I just didn't know how to get the sweetness across in the poem and I didn't want to change the words. Its perfect what you did with it. I wouldn't change it!!:)
ReplyDeleteDo you mind if I post it?
ReplyDeletep.s. We should watch Yes Man together sometime. Such a good movie oozing with positivity.

ReplyDeleteI'm so glad that you liked it. And we should watch yes man together. It's so good. And of course you can post the song. I loved that poem so much, it feels like something I would feel but not be able to articulate.
ReplyDeleteThank you. I was trying to articulate something that I think a lot of women feel. :)
ReplyDeleteWell you really brought it to life by singing it. Its like the emotion of the words just came oozing out through your voice.
